Grammar School Reunion

Some 80 former pupils of Soham Boys Grammar School took a trip down memory lane when they met up for their annual reunion.

Guest-of-honour on Saturday was Leon Kitchen, a history master at the school in the 1950s, who travelled from Newcastle to attend the event, held in Beechurst Hall.

Other guests included Edward Armitage, headmaster from 1946 until the school closed in 1972, making way for Soham Village College. "The evening was, as it always is, a huge success. We are already planning next year's reunion" said organiser Roger Lane, a pupil at the school until 1954.

Old boys John could not resist school caps and reunion. Guest-of-honour and the evening's speaker, Leon Kitchen is pictured (centre) with (left) Mr Armitage and former pupils. They are holding a school photograph dating back to 1929.
