Guest of Honour at Saturday's Soham Grammar School old boys' reunion dinner was the school's last headmaster prior to the introduction of comprehensive education in 1972.

Mr Edward Armitage, who is now 81, joined his former pupils for their annual get-together at Beechurst Hall, when his speech was the highlight of an evening of reminiscences.

Chairman for this year's event was old boy Dr David Kerridge who is currently assistant master of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge

Organiser Mr Roger Lane said he was delighted with the record turnout of more than 90 ex-pupils who had enjoyed a very good reunion. Plans are already underway for next year's event on September 31.
